Mike Pichlyk

Mike grew up in a small community just twenty minutes north of Winnipeg. He went to school in the city and spent the majority of his time in the car listening to the radio. He then slowly developed a love for radio but never really thought it was something he would pursue as a career. When he graduated from high school he enrolled in the University of Winnipeg's Business program. He then realized very quickly that this wasn't the career path for him, so he dropped out after the second semester. He then took a year off from school working various odd jobs and started thinking of what he should do for a career. It wasn't until his parents showed him an advertisement for Assiniboine Community College's interactive media arts program where he finally had the realization that radio was something he wanted to be a part of.

After being accepted into ACC he moved to Brandon and spent two years working on getting his degree. He then graduated in the summer of 2020. Usually, a practicum would be set up by ACC but due to COVID-19, he was left to look for a job himself. He was working as a screener at Seven Oaks General Hospital until he was informed by a friend that works at CFAR to apply for a job position here in The Pas, Manitoba. He applied and sure enough, he got the job.

He's a huge sports betting fan, and enjoys watching the NFL, CFL, Mixed Martial Arts, and Boxing. He also likes keeping active by working out and running outside.

Derek Logan

I may not be the biggest guy, or the toughest guy,
or the fastest guy, or the smartest guy ... wait,
where was I going with this.?"

Derek is a Manitoban through and through and when hes not cheering on the big Blue and Gold he
is probably wearing a Jets shirt. Born and raised in Winnipeg he had your pretty typical upbringing.

Soon after leaving high school Derek found himself working in restaurants. He may not look it but
he can cook like the wind blows, and oh my is it tasty. His passion towards cooking could not last
forever though and with that fire slowly fading away he found himself looking for, a new passion.
It was his love of all things music that made him decide radio was the right place.

It was at this time Derek went to the Academy of Broadcasting and was able to take his first step
towards becoming the man he is today. Derek has a love of everything media. He loves listening to
all types of music, from classical to metal and everything in between. He can often be seen jogging
while rocking out to The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Guess Who and other classic rock greats.

In his free time Derek loves to play the guitar and says the only thing he misses about Winnipeg are
the ladies he left behind, a Fender and a Jackson. He also has a love of science fiction and all things
alien. The Truth is Out There.

Catch Derek bright and early Saturdays - and weekdays Tuesday through Friday from 10 to 2PM
for the evening drive, and call him with your favourite tunes for the 3 Oclock Request fest.

Nolan Chapman-Puritch

Nolan is a Torontonian who spent most of his summers growing up in Flin Flon. Him and his family would hit the road once a year and do the 36 hour drive making a few stops to camp or visit family in Winnipeg along the way.

At the ripe age of 10 he was the shiest student in class until his vice principle selected him to do the morning announcements… and now nobody can get him to be quiet! Nolan attended the broadcasting program at Durham College in Oshawa. He worked as a concert security guard throughout college, where he got to hang out with bands like the Arkells and The Glorious Sons! He quickly became an avid supporter of Canadian music, believing Canada has some of if not the best music to offer today! To no surprise his favorite bands are The Glorious sons, The Arkells and the Tragically Hip, but he’ll jam out to just about anything if the mood is right!

Nolan lives by the saying “don’t knock it till you try it” and is always front of the line ready to try the next fun thing, regardless how dangerous it might be. He’s taken a rally racing course and been right in the pit photographing many concerts!

Nolan is an automotive enthusiast at heart, often going for drives with no end goal aside from to enjoy the drive. He’s combined his love for cars with his love for photography and is always looking for the next beautiful spot to park and snap a pic for the memory book.

Nolan is looking forward to working with CJAR to bring you the latest and greatest in sports and entertainment!
