MJHL

The Virden Oil Capitols are in Portage against the Terriers, Selkirk is home to the Winnipeg Blues while Winkler welcomes Steinbach.

 

The OCN Blizzard won’t see any action until Janaury 9th 

Norman Wild

The Wild were in Flin Flon for 3 games and a one-day hockey camp.

 

They started off with a win with a score 3-1 over the Yellowhead Chiefs on Friday, then lost tight one to Yellowhead on Saturday with a score of 1 - 0. Sunday’s results are not in yet.

 

The hockey camp Saturday was a great success. According to the team website, the Wild have “a great future with many prospects”.


 

FLHL - The Pas Huskies

In their final game before Christmas, The Pas Huskies remain in first place of the FLHL.

 

The Huskies beat the Hudson Bay Hunters 9-5 at the Roy H. Johnston Arena on Saturday. A hattrick by Aaron Porter moves the team to 7-1 on the season. 

 

OCN Blizzard

The Blizzard finished off the weekend on a winning note.

 

After a 7 - 1 loss on Friday at the hands of the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, the Blizzard came back and doubled up on the Dauphin

Kings with a score of 6-3 on Saturday. The Blizzard are now on a Christmas break, and their next game is against the Blues in Winnipeg January 9th.

OCN Blizzard

It’s a busy weekend in the MJHL as teams get set for the Christmas break.

 

The OCN Blizzard are on the road and in the hunt for 4 points as they are winless in their last three games. Tonight they  face the Waywayseecappo Wolverines, then the team heads to Dauphin to take on the Kings tomorrow night. Both games will be broadcast on 102.9 CJAR.

 

Elsewhere tonight, the Winnipeg Blues welcome the Portage Terriers, Selkirk is home to Virden and Neepawa goes to Winkler to face the Flyers. There were no games last night.

MJHL results for December 17

There were two games in the MJHL last night and both home teams were winners.

 

The Steinbach istons downed the Winnipeg Blues 4-1. The Selkirk Steelers were balnked 4-0 by the Swan Valley Stampeders. There are no games tonight.

OCN Blizzard

The OCN Blizzard fell apart in the second period against the Virden Oil Capitals last night dropping the game 9-2.

 

For OCN they fall in the season to 11-21-2 now, and will look to turn it around in their final 2 games before the Christmas break.

 

Ryan Pruden scored his 4th and 5th goals of the season last night, scoring the loan blizzard markers. Friday the Blizzard will play in Wayway and Saturday in Dauphin. 

OCN Blizzard

The OCN Blizzard will look tonight to turn things around heading into the Christmas Break.

 

The Blizzard are coming off of two losses this past weekend and are in Virden to play the Oil Capitals tonight. They've won all 3 matchups against Virden this season, and with it being one of 3 road games left in the season before a 2 1/2 week hiatus, they hope to pick up as many points as they can.

Following tonight’s game the Blizzard will play in Wayway and in Dauphin on Friday and Saturday.

 

MBCI Basketball

The MBCI Girls were big winners at the 3rd Annual Bill McDonald Senior Varsity Basketball Championship.

 

The round robin had MBCI girls on the winning side with scores against Winnipegosis 45  to 28, Gilbert Plains 64 to 25, and Flin Flon 44 to 31. In the final they beat out Flin Flon for the title.

 

The boys side was won by Hudson Bay. Norway House came second.

Norman Wild

In female midget triple “A” action, the Nor-Man Wild went 50/50 to Eastman on the weekend.

 

The Norman Wild played two home games this weekend against Eastman.  In Saturday's game The Wild  had a close one but losing

3-1 with an empty net goal.  They then redeemed themselves with a 6-1 win on Sunday.

OCN Storm

The OCN Storm were double winners at home on the weekend.

 

The Storm beat the Selkirk Fishermen 3-1 on Saturday. They again took down the Fishermen on Sunday, 6-4.   Next action for the Storm will also be a home game on December 20.

 


 

MJHL Results from weekend

The Portage Terriers hammered the Neepawa Natives 9-3, Steinbach embarrassed Winkler 7-1 and Selkirk blanked Dauphin 3-nothing. Tonight the Dauphin Kings welcome the Neepawa Natives while the next action for OCN Blizzard is tomorrow night when they'll try to get back on the winning trail  when they travel to Virden to take on the Oil Capitols. 

 

MBCI Varsity Basketball

The MBCI Varsity Basketball teams will be host of the 3rd Annual Bill MacDonald Memorial Basketball Tournament.

 

Boys and girls from seven different communities across Manitoba will be in The Pas for the tourney that starts today at 2:00. The Championship games will be at UCN Saturday at 4:30.

OCN Storm

The OCN Storm are in action this weekend for two games.

 

They’ll entertain Selkirk for two games at the GLMC. Saturday night’s game is at 8. Sunday is a matinee game with a 1:30 start.

OCN Blizzard

The OCN Blizzard are on a two-day road trip. The Blizzard took game one on the chin, losing 7-4 to the Blues in Winnipeg last night.

 

Tonight should be a tough battle as well. OCN is in Portage to face the Terriers, the number one team in the MJHL. The game starts at 7:30. We’ll have your play-by-play broadcast on 102.9 CJAR. The Pre-game Show starts at 7:15.

 

Elsewhere, Selkirk is in Steinbach, Dauphin goes to Winkler and Virden plays host to Winnipeg. 

MJHL update

Three games are scheduled for tonight in the MJHL.

 

The Virden Oil Capitols are in Dauphin to face the Kings, the Winnipeg Blues host the Neepawa Natives, while the Portage Terriers will be in Winkler to take on the Flyers.

 

The OCN Blizzard are off until Thursday.

Split weekend for the OCN Blizzard

For the OCN Blizzard they knocked off the number one ranked team in the country on Friday night. Devon Fordyce stole the show with a 2-0 shutout win. Saturday night was the rematch and the Terriers stole 2 points from the Blizzard late, the final 3-2. For OCN after a win and a loss this weekend they now sit with a 11-18-2 record on the season, good enough for 9th place in the MJHL Standings. This week the Blizzard will be on the road to palce the Winnipeg Blues and Portage Terriers on Thursday and Friday night.

OCN Storm

While the Blizzard are home for a full weekend the OCN Storm will be hitting the road for two games, with tonight's game against the Fisher River Hawks, and then travelling onto Arborg to face the Ice Dawgs tomorrow night.  

 

The OCN Storms next home game will be December 13 and 14.

OCN Blizzard

The OCN Blizzard will take on the top team in the MJHL this weekend with the Portage Terriers coming to the GLMC for games both tonight and tomorrow.  Gametime 7 p.m. 

 

Other games tonight in the MJHL will have the Winnipeg Blues travelling to Dauphin to face the Kings, and  Winkler Flyers facing off against the Neepawa Natives

Blizzard travel to Swan Valley

The OCN Blizzard are back in action as they will take on the Swan Valley Stampeders tonight. The Blizzard(10-16-2) will square off with the Stampeders(11-14-3) in Swan at 7:30PM. It's the loan game in the MJHL tonight and is the third meeting between the two clubs with Swan taking both previous meetings, 4-3 and 3-2. It can be heard on 102.9CJAR and thepasonline.com with the Murray GM pre Game show starting at 7:15PM.
