OCN Blizzard - Game Night

The OCN Blizzard have just two games left in the regular season and tonight's is played at home.

 

It's  game 59 and the Blizzard will take on Selkirk. The Steelers could quite possibly be the team OCN takes on in the survivor series so tonight could be a playoff preview.

 

Puck drops at 7 at the GLMC, you can catch the broadcast on 102.9 CJAR and thepasonline.com.

 

OCN Storm

The OCN Storm and North Winnipeg Satellites are all tied up with a game a piece in their best of 5 series in the Keystone Junior Hockey League. 
 
The OCN Storm have home ice advantage this weekend so will play in front of the home crowd for games 3 and 4. Tomorrow night the puck drops at 8 and Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at the GLMC. 
 

 

 

Mb. World Junior Championship Curling

Local curler Jesse Iles and Team Canada are set for the World Jr Curling Championships.

 

Draw one of worlds is tomorrow from Estonia, Europe. The Ladies will be on the ice at 10:30am MB time against the Czech Republic.

Team Canada is one of 10 Women’s teams competing for the world title. Canada will play all other 9 teams in the round robin starting tomorrow. 
 

OCN Blizzard = game results

 The OCN Blizzard picked up an overtime win against the Virden Oil Capitals last night in Virden, with Blizzard goaltender  Brody Claeys getting first star of the game. 

 

The Blizzard now return home for their final regular season game being played tomorrow night at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre against the Selkirk Steelers. 
Dates of the survivor series will be announced soon.
 

 

Northern Mb. Trappers Festival - Jack McPhail sled dog results

The Northern Manitoba Trapper festival was a huge success once again this year.

 

Ken Bernard finished at the top of the two day Jack McPhail Memorial Dog Sled Race. His win came by a narrow margin finishing with a total time of 1 hour 29 minutes and 53 seconds. Second place went to Marco Rivest at 1 hour 31 minutes and 16 seconds. Third place was Chris McLuckie at 1 hour 32 minutes and 11 seconds.

Today's races drew a large crowd of spectators.

 

The Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival is into day 3, and day 2 of one of the main attractions, the sled dog races, now completed.

 

Lead times after two days results of the World Championship races were held by Kevin Cook 4:06.37.12 - Blayne Streeper 4:12:36:70  and Anny Malo 4:22:56:32 

For the Manitoba Championship races was Matt Legal 4:31.17.64

Donny Poulin 4:31.32.12 and Dave Hochman 4:36:16:26
 
 

The Jack McPhail Memorial 6 dog races also are held in conjunction with the World and Manitoba Championships and after today the top 3 were Ken bernard  1:29:53.78 - Marco Rivest 1:31:16:00 and Chris MacLuckie 1:32.11:05

The third and final day of the World and Manitoba Championship is tomorrow with races taking place on Halcrow Lake.
 

OCN Blizzard Home Games

The OCN Blizzard are back on home ice tonight to play a team they’re undefeated against this season.

 

The Dauphin Kings are in town and puck drop is at 7pm. OCN has won all 4 previous meetings against the kings. Tomorrow night is another home game against Waywaysekappo Wolverines and at both games the Blizzard will be wearing their one of a kind Lumberjack jerseys tonight in honour of trappers festival.

 

The jerseys are also up for auction starting at 150 dollars with bidding closing after the first period tomorrow night. 

Results from Sled Dog Races

The Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival is into day 3 today. Some events that kick off this morning are the Sled Dog races with the Manitoba and World championships.

 

Also the Jack McPhail memorial 6 dog race is in day two. After day 1 in the Jack McPhail race Ken Bernard sits first with a time of 42 minutes 30 seconds. Chris MacLuckie is second at 43 minutes and Marco Rivest is third at 44 minutes 1 second. In the World Championship sled dog race after day 1, Kevin Cook is in the lead followed by Blayne Streeper and Justin Fortier.

 

Race day 2 starts at 10am.

Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival

The Northern Manitoba Trappers Festival is on this week in The Pas.

 

One of the main events is the World Championship Sled Dog Races. This year it’s estimated over 25 teams will run in the 10-dog race. Dogs and their mushers will cover approximately 60 kilometers a day for the next 3 days hoping for the fastest overall time.  The Manitoba Championship races are also held in conjunction with the World Championship races.

 

102-9 CJAR will have full coverage of the shotgun start and updates throughout the race.
 

MJHL

It’s pretty quiet around the MJHL.

 

The lone game last night was in Steinbach. The Pistons got by the Neepawa Natives 2-1. There are no games in the league tonight and coming up this weekend the OCN Blizzard will host games both Friday and Saturday at the GLMC.

OCN Blizzard

The OCN Blizzard  will look to snap their losing streak during a 2 game swing.

 

The Blizzard will start the road trip tonight in Selkirk to play the Steelers. The Blizzard are 1-2-1 (one, two and one) against the Steelers this season.

 

Other games in the MJHL tonight have Dauphin in Winnipeg and Wayway in Virden. The Blizzard wrap up their quick 2 game road trip in Steinbach tomorrow.

 

Huskies Results

The Pas Senior Huskies won their 15th game in a row this this weekend.

 

The Huskies chalked up another point in the win column by beating the Hudson Bay Hunters 8-4 Saturday night at the Roy H. Johnston Arena. The Huskies David Wyman is the league’s top  scorer for the season.  He finished with 49 points. Wyman's linemate, Aaron Porter had 44 points, while Tyler Grave had 43.

OCN Storm Results

The OCN Storm were at home and went 50/50 on the weekend.

 

The Storm lost at the GLMC Saturday night to the Peguis Juniors 6-4. OCN would take the revenge match Sunday with a score of 6-3.

 


 

OCN Blizzard game results

The OCN Blizzard road trip started with club getting slammed 11-3 in Selkirk and things were unsettled for the rest of the trip.

 

Friday night The Bliizzard got blanked 4-0 by Portage on Friday and beat up Saturday 6-1 in Winnipeg. OCN hasn’t got much time to regroup.

 

They’re home to the Swan Valley Stampeders tomorrow night. There are no games in the MJHL tonight.
