Perfect Road Trip for OCN BLizzard

It was a perfect road trip for the OCN Blizzard. OCN was in Portage La Prairie for games against the Terriers both Saturday and Sunday. The Blizzard doubled up the Terriers 4-2 last night. They got past Portage 3-2 in a game that went to a shootout on Saturday. OCN hopes the winning momentum continues when they host the Swan Valley Stampeders at the GLMC this Wednesday. There are no games in the MJHL tonight.

Junior Varsity Volleyball Tournament Begins Today

The Junior varsity volleyball tournament begins today here in The Pas. There will be teams from Easterville, Norway House, Cross Lake, Oscar Lathlin Collegiate, Grand Rapids, Thompson, and Creighton. The boys games will be played at MBCI and the girls will play at Scott Bateman Middle School.

 

The games will be played this Friday from 3PM to 9PM and on Saturday from 8:30AM to 5:30PM.

OCN Blizzard Beats Oil Capitals in a Comeback

The OCN Blizzard were victorious against Virden and moved into a league first place tie with Steinbach. After being down 3-0 at the end of the second period, the Blizzard came on with 5 unanswered goals in the third to win it 5-3. OCN will have 2 days of rink time to gear up for games against Portage both Saturday and Sunday at the Stride Place.

OCN Blizzard Play Home Game Tonight

The OCN Blizzard will be on the ice at home tonight. The Blizzard welcome the Virden Oil Capitols to the GLMC for a game at 7 o’clock. Tickets will be available at the gate. And join Marty Martinson at 6:45 for the Pre-Game and all the action when the puck drops at 7 here on 102-9 CJAR. Last night in the MJHL, Selkirk slid past Portage 3-2. Virden doubled Swan Valley 6-3.

OCN Blizzard Winless on Their Roadtrip

The road wasn’t long enough for the OCN Blizzard to find a win this weekend. The Blizzard got rocked 7-0 by the Pistons in Steinbach last night. They lost 6-5  to the Winnipeg Blues on Friday. OCN have 3 games at home this week. The first will be against the Virden Oil Capitols on Wednesday.

OCN Blizzard on The Road This Weekend

The MJHL first place OCN Blizzard head south for 2 games this weekend. The Blizzard face contests in Winnipeg against the Blues tomorrow night and in Steinbach where they take on the Pistons on Sunday. We’ll have a full broadcast of both games on 102.9 CJAR. The Pre-Game Show starts at 6:45 both nights. Martin Martinson has the play call when the puck drops at 7.

OCN Storm Lose in Overtime

The OCN Storm played a close game last night when the Cross Lake Islanders beat them 6-5 in overtime.

 

The Storm has a chance to pull off a win tomorrow night when they face the North Winnipeg Satalites at the GLMC.

 

The puck drops at 8PM.

OCN Blizzard on a Winning Streak

The OCN Blizzard were perfect against Neepawa at the GLMC. Goals from Brody Dale, Dustin Mozdzen and Daniel Chartrand brought the Blizzard to a 3-1 win over the Natives last night. OCN beat Neepawa 4 to 1 Tuesday night. The Blizzard are on the road this weekend. They face Winnipeg Saturday and Steinbach on Sunday.

MJHL Action for October 18th

There are two games In The MJHL tonight. The OCN Blizzard faces the Neepawa Natives at The Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre at 7PM The Blizzard are Still First Place in the league.  The game will not be broadcasted on CJAR tonight.

 

Elsewhere, the Steinbach Pistons play the Portage Terriers at the TG Smith Centre at 7:30.

OCN Blizzard Takes on Neepawa in MJHL Action

There are 3 games on the MJHL schedule tonight. The OCN Blizzard are home to face the Neepawa Natives. Game time is 7 o’clock and tickets will be available at the gate just prior to the game. The Blizzard are 2nd in the MJHL,  a point back of Steinbach. Neepawa sits 5th in the league. Elsewhere tonight, the Stampeders are in Dauphin to face the Kings while Winkler is home to Selkirk.

OCN Blizzard Fundraising and Support

The OCN Blizzard has been receiving a lot of support so that they can stay in OCN. Blizzard Governor Shorty Lathlin recently spoke to CJAR to talk about fundraising for the OCN Blizzard. Lathlin says there will be Chase the Ace at the Kikiwak Inn every Friday night. On game nights chase the ace will be sold at the GLMC. There will also be an $8,000 bingo on November the 4th at the veteran’s hall and a raffle for Winnipeg Jets Tickets and an ATV. The draw for the raffle is expected to take place in December.

 

OCN Councilor Lori Lathlin attended the annual general assembly of the Keewatin Tribal Council where she conducted a presentation seeking support for the team. The presentation was well received and the Blizzard will be getting some support from a few KTC First Nations. Broken Head Ojibwe nation is also interested in supporting the Blizzard and, Nelson House, Cross Lake First Nation have agreed to support the team as well.

OCN Blizzard On the Road this Weekend

The OCN Blizzard take to the road this morning for two games in Virden this weekend. We’ll have the broadcast for tonight and tomorrow’s games. Marty Martinson has the call following the Pre-Game at 7:15.  The puck drops at 7:30 both nights. There are a total of 5 games in the MJHL tonight.

OCN Storm Regular Season Opener

The OCN Storm have their regular season home opener tomorrow night at the GLMC. The Storm welcome the Selkirk Fishermen to OCN. Game time is 8 o’clock.

MJHL Action October 11th

There was just one game in the MJHL last night. Steinbach was in Neepawa.  The Natives slammed the Pistons 6-1. There are no games scheduled in the league tonight.

MBCI Athletes Headed to Provincial Cross Country Meet

Five Athletes from MBCI will be going to the provincial cross country meet in Winnipeg  Today. They will be competing with the rest of the province at a course at Kilcona park.

MJHL Action

There were 3 games in the MJHL last night. Dauphin blanked the Swan Valley Stampeders 2-0. Neepawa hammered Wayway 8-2 and the Winnipeg Blues fell 4-2 to the Steelers in Selkirk. The lone game in the league tonight has Steinbach at Neepawa.

OCN Blizzard Win Both Games Against Winnipeg

The OCN Blizzard hit payload with the Winnipeg Blues on the Thanksgiving long weekend. The Blizzard doubled the Blues 8-4 Friday night at the GLMC. OCN entertained the home crowd to a 4-3 overtime win on Sunday. The Blizzard now hold top spot in the MJHL standings with a 6-1-1 record. OCN hit the road this weekend. They face Virden both Friday and Saturday.

Flin Flon Bombers Now Third Place in SJHL

In the SJHL the Flin Flon Bombers lost 2-1 against the Kindersley last Saturday. The Bombers are now third place in the league, and they will take on the Humboldt Broncos Tomorrow night at 7:30.

OCN Blizzard in Action This Weekend Updated

The OCN Blizzard are back in action this weekend. The Blizzard will entertain the Winnipeg Blues tonight and again on Sunday. Tonight’s game starts at 7:30, and Sunday night at 6 and tickets will be available at the gate for both games. The Blizzard boast a second place record of 4-1-1. Winnipeg is second last with a record of 1 and 4.

OCN Storm On The Road

The Junior “B” OCN Storm hit the road for one game this long weekend. The Juniors will host OCN in Peguis for one game, Saturday night at 8.

 

Correction: An Earlier version of this story said the storm was playing the icedogs  they are playing Peguis Juniors on saturday night.

OCN Blizzard Road Trip Results

It was a tough end to the OCN Blizzard’s first road trip of the year. The Blizzard couldn’t find the net in Steinbach last night and lost 5-0 to the Pistons. OCN beat Selkirk 5-4 on Saturday and Selkirk won the game on Friday, also 5-4. The Blizzard are now off until the weekend when they’ll host Winnipeg to a game on Friday and again on Sunday. There are no games in the MJHL tonight.
