40th Annual Atom Grub Box Hockey Tournament

The 40th Annual Grub Box Atom Minor Hockey Tournament begins on February 2nd until the 4th. The games will be played at The Roy H Johnston Arena and The Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre.

 

The Alongside the Huskies there will be teams from, Flin Flon, Thompson, OCN, Cross Lake, Norway House, Snow Lake Gilliam and Swan River. The First game will feature the B Divisions Flin Flon Bombers and The Pas Huskies at 12PM at the Roy H Johnston Arena.

OCN Blizzard Game Postponed

The OCN Blizzard game against the Stampeders tonight has been postponed as Swan River has declared a state of emergency due to a water shortage. No word yet on a make-up date.

A Busy Weekend For Student Basketball Players

It was a busy weekend for the MBCI and Scott Bateman Middle School Basketball Players. The Junior Boys and girls played in their home tournament this weekend and the boys finished second in the A pool and the girls teams finished second place in the B pool.

 

The Senior Boys basketball team was in Brandon where they lost to Swan River and Dauphin but where victorious over Crocus Plains.

 

The boys and girls teams at Scott Bateman Middle School Both won their tournaments which were held in Creighton and Flin Flon.

Blizzard Losses to Winnipeg

The Blizzard were on the road this weekend and the Blues got to them. Winnipeg beat OCN 3-1 on Friday. The Blues won again last night, 4-3. OCN will have a skate today then head to Swan River to take on the Stampeders tomorrow night.

OCN Blizzard Action This Weekend

The OCN Blizzard are on the road this weekend. The Blizzard face the Winnipeg Blues both tonight and Sunday night. Tonight’s game at 7 and Sunday night at 6:30 will be broadcast live on 102-9 CJAR. OCN has won their last 3 games.

Student Basketball Tournaments This Weekend

The MBCI Junior Boys and Girls basketball teams will be playing in a tournament at MBCI and Scott Bateman Middle School. The Tournament begins this afternoon at 4 and will wrap up tomorrow. Meanwhile the senior boys basketball team will be playing a tournament in Brandon this weekend and the middle school boys and girls basketball teams are headed to Creighton and Flin Flon for a Tournament.

OCN Blizzard Back To Their Winning Ways

The OCN Blizzard seem to be back to their winning ways. Trygve Many Guns had 2 goals for OCN as they doubled up the Wolverines in Waywayseecappo 4-2 last night. The Blizzard have the day off. They’re in Winnipeg tomorrow night.

Another Big Win For The OCN Storm

Another big win for the OCN Storm. The Storm beat Cross Lake 8-5 at the GLMC last night. The Storm remain tied for first with Selkirk. The Peguis Juniors are 2 points back.

OCN Blizzard On The Road

The OCN Blizzard are on the road this afternoon. OCN wiil be in Waywayseecappo to night for a game against the Wolverines. Puck drops at 7:30 with Marty Martinson at the call. Catch the pre-game show at 7:15. Last night, Mark Liwiski  had 2 goals to help the Blizzard beat the Dauphin Kings 5-2

OCN Blizzard In Action Tonight

The OCN Blizzard are back in action tonight. After beating the Winnipeg Blues here on Saturday, the Blizzard hope for a repeat when they face the Dauphin Kings at the GLMC. Puck drops at 7 Tickets will be available at the gate at 6:30.

The 26th annual Prince-Berscheid Memorial Peewee Tournament Is In The Books.

The Swan Valley Stampeders took home the Doug's Source for Sports Cup, top honours in the "AA" division, with a 7-3 victory over the Flin Flon "AA" Bombers.

 

The Thompson King Miners took home the "A" title, and the Prince-Berscheid Cup, with a 12-2 win over the Tataskweyak Eagles.

 

Third place in the "AA" division went to the The Pas Huskies, who won 3-2 over the "AA" King Miners. The Norway House Northstars won the "A" third place game with a 5-4 victory over The Pas.

OCN Blizzards First Win of 2018

The OCN Blizzard had just one game over the weekend. The Blizzard got their first win of 2018 when they beat the Winnipeg Blues 3-2 Saturday night at the GLMC. The Blizzard will welcome the Dauphin Kings next. They play tomorrow night at 7.

A Good Weekend For The OCN Storm

The Storm were dominant on the road. They thumped the North Stars 8-1 in Norway House on Friday. The Storm, two points back of Selkirk for first in the league, welcome the Cross Lake Islanders to OCN on Wednesday.

OCN Blizzard Face Winnipeg Tomorrow Night

The OCN Blizzard have just one game this weekend. The Blizzard have hit a slump as of late and have dropped to 6th place in the MJHL. OCN have lost 9 in a row. They hope to turn things around when they host the Winnipeg Blues tomorrow night at 7. Tickets will be available at the gate.

OCN Storm On The Road

The OCN Storm head to Norway House to face the North Stars tonight in their only game of the weekend. The Storm are tied with Selkirk for 1st place in the KJHL.

 

A Tough Run For The OCN Blizzard

It’s been a tough run for the OCN Blizzard. After taking a loss in Virden on Thursday, the Blizzard took a 4-1 loss at the hands of the Steinbach Pistons at the GLMC on Saturday. The Blizzard have the week to regroup.  They’ll face the Winnipeg Blues at OCN this Saturday. The Blizzard are winless in January. They’ve now lost 5 in a row.

OCN Strom On A Roll

The OCN Storm are on a roll. On the road this weekend, the Storm blew out the Fisher River Hawks 10-1 on Saturday. They beat Arborg Ice Dawgs 7-4 on Saturday. OCN’s next game  is Friday against the Nort Stars in Norway House. The Storm are tied with the Selkirk Fishermen for first place in the KJHL.

The Pas Huskies Minor Hockey Team Hope to Win the 2018 Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup

The Pas Huskies Minor Hockey Team is one of the top ten contenders for the 2018 Chevrolet Good Deeds Cup. Teams can qualify for the Good Deeds Cup by submitting a video of the players doing good deeds for the community and The Pas Huskies submitted a video of the meal that they held at Oscars Place. 

 

The Huskies have received two thousand dollars for making it in the top ten and they will be donating their winnings to the Oscars Place Homeless Shelter. The team has the potential to win five-thousand dollars if they make the top three and fifteen thousand dollars if they win the cup.

 

The videos submitted by minor hockey teams will be uploaded to Chevrolet Canada’s You Tube Channel and the voting will be based on the videos that have the most views.

The video will be uploaded this Sunday at midnight and you can help the Huskies get views by sharing the video on social media.

Busy Weekend for High and Middle School Basketball Teams

The MBCI Senior girl’s varsity basketball team is heading to Creighton today for a tournament that runs until Tomorrow. Also this weekend The Scott Bateman Middle School boy’s basketball team will be attending a jamboree in Kamsack.

OCN Blizzard Loses to Virden in Overtime

The OCN Blizzard went to Virden for a make-up game yesterday. The Oil Capitols got OCN 5-4 in overtime. The Blizzard hope home ice advantage will help turn around a 4-game losing streak. They’ll welcome Steinbach to the GLMC Saturday night at 7.

OCN Storm Beats Norway House Northstars

The OCN Storm was at home yesterday. They got by Norway House 7-5. OCN is now tied with the Selkirk Fishermen for first place in the KJHL. The Storm face the Hawks in Fisher River tomorrow and in Arborg on Sunday.

OCN Storm in Action Tonight

The OCN Storm are in action at the GLMC tonight. The Storm face the Norway House Northstars. Game time is 7 o’clock and tickets will be available at the gate.

OCN Blizzard Takes On Virden Tonight

The OCN Blizzard are looking to rebound their losing streak. OCN hasa make-up game in Virden tonight. The game originally scheduled for last month was cancelled due to poor weather driving conditions. After three straight losses, the Blizzard are tied with Selkirk for 5th place in the league. Virden is 3rd, four points up on OCN.

MJHL Announces Rosters for SJHL/MJHL Showcase

The MJHL recently announced the rosters for the SJHL/MJHL Showcase. The showcase will consist of the top 60 college eligible players from each league as chosen by their coaches and the players will play on three different teams.

 

Team Garbutt, will consist of players born from 1999 to 2001 while teams Zajac and Belfour will be made up of players born in 1997 and 1998.

 

This year, five OCN Blizzard players will take part in the showcase. Dustin Mozden will play for team Garbutt while Dorian Laganiere, Tavis Roch, Matthew Greening, and Anthony Keeper will play for team Zanjac.

 

The showcase takes place from January 15th to the 16th at the Co-Operators center in Regina and it will give players the opportunity to showcase themselves to coaches and scouts.

 

 

The Pas Huskies host a novice tournament

The Pas Huskies hosted a novice tournament in The Pas and OCN over the weekend. Numerous teams travelled from all over Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan to compete in the 3-day event. In the finals yesterday, the Flin Flon Rhinos finished first over the Hudson Bay Hunters. The Flin Flon Firemen finished third while The Pas White got 5th place and OCN finished 12th overall.

OCN Blizzard Weekend Action

The OCN Blizzrd capped off the weekend with a trip to Swan River. The game went to overtime with Swan Valley taking a 7-6 win. Portage beat OCN both Friday and Saturday. The Blizzard, tied with Winkler for 4th place will take a few days to regroup before heading to Virden on Thursday.

Scott Bateman Basketball Program

The Scott Bateman Middle school basketball program needs your help and is offering some prizes for it. Ticketsfor 31 days of thirty-one are on sale now for only 10 dollars each, with only 300 printed.

Each ticket makes you eligible for one prizea day for the entire month of January with the final draw on the 31st.

Cost of prizes range from 30 to 98 dollars, and all proceeds will go towards the basketball teams.
