Cash Flow Business Boot Camp

Community Futures Cedar Lake Region is hosting a workshop for female business owners.

The Cash Flow Canvas Bootcamp helps female Indigenous business owners to budget with their numbers.

Tanya Woods Richardson, founder and CEO of Community Futures Cedar Lake region, shares that:

"The idea is to actually have a lot of fun, cause numbers can be a scary conversation, and the idea of the BootCamp is, where we will work with founders step by step, in a loving and gentle way to really help them understand the numbers that they're using in their Cashflow."

Richardson said it would give these female business owners an understanding of pricing products and services to make their businesses profitable.

At the workshop, there will be interactive exercises, real-world examples, and personal feedback.

The 3-hour workshop runs next Tuesday, November 5th, starting at 5:30 at the Pas Regional Library.

You can contact Sandra Shapiro with Community Futures locally to register.

The annual campaign helps support local veterans and their family members and all money collected locally stays in the local community.

The campaign not only serves as a way to remember those who have served but also educates the public about the importance of peace and the impact of war.

Water Main Flushing

The Town of the Pas began flushing water pipes yesterday in preparation for the winter months.

The process takes several days and will run 24/7 until complete.

It can lead to discolouration of water from faucets.

It may also cause issues with water pressure.

If you notice any changes in your water you can run faucets for several minutes, this should clear any sediment that may have made it in.

The discolouration is not dangerous and poses no risk, but you can contact the town Engineering department at 204-627-1125 with any questions or concerns.

Fire Safety Week The Pas

It’s Fire Prevention Week and the goal is to raise awareness about fire safety and prevention.

This year’s slogan is “smoke alarms, make them work for you.”

In case of a fire, you may only have 2-3 minutes to escape which is why it’s so important to have working smoke detectors and prepare an escape plan that the whole family is aware of.

Smoke alarms should be installed on every level and in every room.

Smoke rises so you should always stay low to the ground when escaping, and never go back inside once you're out.

The fire hall in The Pas will host an open house event tomorrow from 11 to 2 pm with fun activities for kids, crafts, interactive games, and lots of fire prevention information.

Local firefighters will be on hand doing a meet and greet and providing information, there will also be a demonstration of fire suppression techniques.

The goal of Fire Prevention Week is to reduce the risk of fires and to promote fire safety practices, and everyone is encouraged to check smoke alarms every month to ensure they are working and replace them every 10 years.

Educator tool kits, smoke alarm activities, and digital catalogues with information can all be found at fpw.org.

Culture Days Wrap Up The Pas

Culture days wrap up in The Pas this weekend and there is still time to get involved.

Gabrielle Swan shares more about Culturama running this weekend and says it has a lot in common with the “Foods of the World” event that has been done in the past but with more.

"This event is similar in the sense that you can still come try food from fourteen different countries, however in addition to the food, there's going to be live performances, so there's going to be dancing, and singing, and each of the performances is specific to the region."

There are different tickets available for the event.

General admission is free and that will allow for a viewing of all the performances.

Food passes can also be purchased at the door for 5 dollars per person and family passes are available to feed up to 7 people for 20 dollars.

This event runs on Saturday and will run from 2 to 4, and again from 6 to 8 pm.
