Unfortunately, Neepawa was able to score two late goals to seal a 5–3 victory. The entire Blizzard organization is now on holiday break and will return on Saturday, January 3, with a home game against Virden.

Blizz Eye Key Points as OCN Storm Roll into Holiday Break

After falling to Steinbach this past weekend, the Blizz will now look ahead to not only tomorrow’s home matchup against Dauphin, but also this weekend’s doubleheader against Neepawa. With only three games left in 2025, earning points will be a must for Northern Manitoba. Puck drop for tomorrow’s matchup is set for 7:00 p.m., and 102.9 CJAR will have full coverage from start to finish.

In other hockey news, the OCN Storm continued their winning ways by picking up back-to-back wins against Cross Lake and Peguis at this past weekend’s KJHL Showcase. The KJHL All-Star Game also took place, and the Storm were well represented, with nine players and coach Ethan Constant in attendance. After the best-on-best contest wrapped up on Saturday, three Storm players took home post-game awards. The KJHL Showcase is happening this weekend, and like all the other teams, the OCN Storm will be playing back-to-back games to maximize their exposure to the coaches and scouts in attendance. The Storm will play their first game on Saturday against the Cross Lake Islanders at 1:30 p.m. Sunday’s game will be against the Peguis Juniors, beginning at around 10:30 a.m. All games will be played at the C.A. Nesbitt Arena and are free to attend.

And of course, it wouldn’t be a KJHL Showcase without an All-Star Game. For those wanting to check it out, the best-on-best matchup is set for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Blizz Reschedule Dauphin Matchup for Tonight Ahead of Teddy Bear Game

Due to issues at Dauphin’s Credit Union Place, yesterday’s game between the Kings and Northern Manitoba was postponed. A makeup date was already in the works, but it has now been confirmed that the game will be played tonight.

After tonight’s in-division matchup, it’s a quick turnaround as the Blizz return home on Friday to take on the Pistons. It’s important to note that Friday’s contest will also serve as the Northland Leisure Teddy Bear Game. Fans are encouraged to bring a new or gently used stuffy to join in on the fun when it’s time for the toss. All plushies thrown onto the ice will be distributed to youth across the North.

Puck drop is set for 7:00 p.m., and 102.9 CJAR will have full coverage from start to finish.

Blizz Hit the Road to Battle Division-Leading Dauphin

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard are back on the road tonight for the first time in a couple of weeks as they take on division rival and current leader Dauphin. Northern Manitoba is looking to get back into the win column after having their two-game win streak snapped this past weekend against Neepawa. Dauphin, meanwhile, is coming off three straight losses and, much like the Blizz, will be aiming to get back on track ahead of their weekend slate of games.

Puck drop for tonight’s matchup is 7:00 p.m. After this game, the Blizz return home on Friday to welcome Steinbach to town.

Blizz Split Weekend Series, Look Ahead to Dauphin and Steinbach

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard are coming off a two-point weekend, going 1–1 after last week’s matchups against the Winnipeg Blues and Neepawa Titans. Friday’s contest was very similar to the last time the Blues visited The Pas. Goals came early in this back-and-forth affair, with John Adlys opening the scoring in the first period to make it 1–0. Shortly after, Ryder Duchon netted one to even things up heading into the second.

Northern Manitoba put together another strong offensive period with goals from Owen Wilkinson and John Adlys. Just before the end of the frame, however, Winnipeg’s William Marceus found the back of the net to make it 3–2 heading into the third. Trystyn Sidor scored in under thirty seconds to give the Blizz some breathing room, but the Blues responded with two quick goals to tie things up. Fortunately for Northern Manitoba, Jett Fogle scored late to secure the 5–4 win.

The Blizz were back at it the next day in another exciting matchup, this time against division rival Neepawa. Owen Wilkinson opened the scoring, tallying the lone goal of the first period to give the Blizz the early lead. In the later stages of the second, Tyler Wamboldt and Talen Wallis both lit the lamp to put Neepawa ahead 2–1. The Titans struck again early in the third to make it 3–1. Northern Manitoba added one more thanks to Isaac Tomchak, but it wasn’t enough to complete the comeback, with the final ending 3–2 for Neepawa.

The Blizz are back in action tomorrow and Friday. Tomorrow they’ll travel to the Parkland Region to take on Dauphin, and on Friday they return home to face the Steinbach Pistons.

Northern Manitoba Opens Two-Game Set Looking to Build Momentum

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard are back tonight and tomorrow for a two-game doubleheader against the Winnipeg Blues and the Neepawa Titans. The Blues enter tonight’s contest on a three-game losing streak, while the Titans are also coming off a loss to Portage but will look to bounce back tonight against Swan Valley.

Both teams previously edged out the Blizz in close matchups — on November 2nd, Northern Manitoba fell 3–2 to division rival Neepawa, and on November 7th, the Blues topped the Blizz with a 5–4 shootout win. However, with the Blizz coming off a 5–1 statement victory this past week against Swan Valley, Northern Manitoba will look to use that momentum to pick up more points before the Christmas break arrives.

Puck drop is set for 7:00 P.M. for both games. 102.9 CJAR will be broadcasting tomorrow’s matchup.

Beatrice Wilson Health Centre Hosting Free Tri-Community Skate

The Beatrice Wilson Health Centre will be hosting a free skate this Sunday for anyone looking to get some ice time. The event will take place at Roy H. Johnson Arena from 3:45 P.M. to 5:15 P.M. and is open to the entire Tri-Community.

Attendees are encouraged to wear a helmet, but children eight and under are required to wear one and must be accompanied by an adult. Teens sixteen and older may participate without supervision.

Northern Manitoba Ends Losing Streak in Statement Victory

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard ended their twelve-game losing streak in spectacular fashion last night against division rival Swan Valley. The Blizz opened the game with two unanswered goals from Assistant Captain Hunter Dingman and centerman Kanye Huang. Swan Valley’s Gavin Bartha cut the lead to one in the early stages of the second, but shortly after, Jett Fogle buried one to make it a 3–1 game heading into the final frame.

The third period belonged to the Blizz, as they tacked on two more goals to seal a 5–1 win for Northern Manitoba. With the losing skid now in the rearview mirror, the Blizz will look to add two more wins this Friday and Saturday when they welcome the Winnipeg Blues and Neepawa Titans for back-to-back games. 102.9 CJAR will be broadcasting Saturday’s matchup against the Titans. Puck drop for both games is set for 7:00 P.M.

OCN Storm Keep Rolling; Blizzard Return to Action in Crucial Matchup Tonight

The OCN Storm kept up their winning ways this past weekend, going 2-0 against the Cross Lake Islanders. Both games were tight, competitive, and needed overtime to decide a winner.

Saturday’s contest saw OCN get off to a fast start in the first period with goals from both Justin Eetuk and Cedrick Puffalt. Cross Lake’s Trace Sinclair responded with one of his own, making it 2–1 heading into the second. Cameron Sutherland tied things up just before the halfway point of the middle frame, and in the third, both teams found the back of the net once more, sending the game to overtime tied 4–4. Fortunately for OCN, Justin Eetuk answered the bell in the extra frame and buried his second of the night, giving the Storm their fourth straight win.

Sunday’s game was no different. Much like Saturday’s tilt, the Storm exploded out of the gate, scoring four goals in the opening period. Cross Lake managed to get two back, narrowing the tally to 4–2 heading into the second. The middle period featured a flurry of offence, with the two squads combining for five goals, making it 6–5 OCN.

Cross Lake needed just one more to not only tie things up but also inch closer to their first win of the season. Takeo Ross stepped up and delivered, tying the game with less than ten minutes remaining in regulation. Unfortunately for the Islanders, it was once again Justin Eetuk who lit the lamp in overtime, securing OCN’s fifth win in a row.

The OCN Storm are now off until the KJHL Showcase, which takes place in Thompson on December 13th and 14th. They’ll face the Islanders and the Juniors in back-to-back games at the C.A. Nesbitt Arena.

In other hockey news, the Northern Manitoba Blizzard are back in action tonight as they take on the Swan Valley Stampeders for the first time this season. Both teams are fighting for valuable points heading into the Christmas break and are looking to snap their respective losing streaks. Puck drop is at 7:00 P.M., with 102.9 CJAR’s Funky Threadz pregame show set to begin at around 6:45 P.M.

Blizz Earn Single Point in Hard-Fought Weekend vs Winkler

The Northern Manitoba Blizzard walked away from the weekend with a single point after falling in both games against the Winkler Flyers. Friday’s matchup was a tight, low-scoring defensive battle. The first goal came from Winkler’s Tanner George early in the final period. The next came just past the halfway mark on a Flyers power play when Niklas Gudmundson and the special teams capitalized.

With the Blizz down by two, they needed a spark — and Jett Fogle delivered, burying a shorthanded goal off a clean faceoff win. Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to spark a comeback. Winkler went back on the power play late in the game and added one more to seal a 3–1 victory.

Saturday’s game saw the Blizz get off to a much better start. The first period featured three goals from Northern Manitoba: power-play markers from Jett Fogle and Kanye Huang, along with another goal from Jack Perrier. By the end of the opening frame, the Blizz held a 3–1 lead.

The next set of goals wouldn’t come until the third period, when Winkler responded with an impressive push, scoring three straight to take a 4–3 lead. Luckily for the Blizz, with just under two minutes remaining, Kanye Huang found the back of the net for the second time that night to tie the game and send it to overtime.

After a scoreless first overtime period, the game headed to a shootout. Winkler’s Connor Rieger and Kam Thomas scored on both of their attempts, securing a remarkable come-from-behind win for the Flyers.

The Blizzard now look ahead to a busy week, starting with a home matchup against Swan Valley tomorrow. Puck drop is set for 7:00 P.M., and 102.9 CJAR will have full coverage from start to finish.
